Going out and having fun at clubs is a lifestyle choice I guess. Someone once said “I love the privacy of crowds,” or something like that. So when I go out and party and try to look fab, it’s for me and not for anyone else. Yes, there was a time, about a decade ago when I would go “to see and be seen”, but I have out grown that I think, and I just want to have fun. Some people go to movies, some go to coffee shops, some read a book, I go out.
Unfortunately, there are perils to partying. One that I particularly hate is being groped. It’s happened a few times before, and you’d think I would have learned what to do, but apparently I have not.
Last Friday, I was out celebrating a friend’s birthday. I had my party on and having an awesome time just dancing around as per usual. At some point, after one too many glasses of wine, I eventually had to go to the ladies. The place was crowded, but I’ve maneuvered through worse traffic. Then, there was a hand on my ass, and fingers creeping up on the edge off my particularly short skirt. I instinctively reached out to stop the hand, and I turned and saw this man staring back at me like daring me to do something. I was stupefied. ANG KAPAL! There was a throng of people that basically carried me off the other direction. I went to the banyo and tried to collect my self. I still couldn’t believe that it happened so blatantly.
I headed back to our table. I was in a party with 3 “big” guy friends, 2 of which were fraternity brothers. One of them saw my face and instantly knew something was wrong, so I told him. He was ready to go to war, but I didn’t want to ruin the night naman. So I just made a show of kind of pointing to the general direction of the fungus-eater and let him see I was surrounded with guys who could literally tear him apart limb by limb. Next thing I knew he was gone, and probably moved to another table.
Look, I understand that some people are just creeps. What really pisses me off is the fact that I wasn’t able to do anything to him! Why didn’t I break his finger? Why didn’t I slap his face? Why didn’t I scream and raise holy hell at that club?!!!? Hopefully it won’t happen again. And I hope for all you ladies out there, who will have the unfortunate opportunity to be groped, you will have the good sense to at least throw a drink at the a-hole’s face.
