“Always a bridesmaid…” you know how the rest of that goes…
Yes, palagi akong bridesmaid. Dati medyo pinaghihimutok ko ang fact na ito, but as I began my major paradigm shift and started looking on the brighter side, I realized just how fun it (mostly) turns out. One of the best things about being a bridesmaid for me is the GOWN.
I love love love dressing up… and formal wear is always an adventure. In the whole of my bridesmaiding career, I’ve had quite a number of gowns/dresses made by some top designers in the country like Ivarluski Aseron, Joe San Antonio, and most recently, and the one to beat, would be my gown by the one, the only FRANCIS LIBIRAN!!!
Francis did my cousin’s wedding gown and her entourage’s, including mine. When he 1st met with me to talk about the design tinanong nya ako kung meron ba daw limitations sa mga pwede kong isuot. Sabi ko naman wala, and therefore linagyan nya ako ng slit na abot hanggang singit ko. So see below for my OOTD a couple of days ago:
I wore this on the beach, with a train and 4-inch platforms. TIIS GANDA talaga dahil dapat bigyan justice ang gown… di bale nang nalulusaw na mukha ko habang sunset at lumulubog ako sa buhangin…
Bilang fan-girl, I tweeted about it… and got a reply from Francis himself! Kilig!
He even retweeted and favorited my tweet! I love him! He’s truly an all-around nice guy. Extremely talented (the likes of Tyra Banks chose to wear his creations na, and he did ANTM too!), and may I just say, such a beautiful man, inside and out! He was one of my Kuya-cousin’s best buds back in architecture school and my Kuya says he’s always been such a great person.

(Francis made this for Venus Raj when she was hosting for the last Binibining Pilipinas pageant. 22-inches ang waistline.. grabeeehhhh…)
“…never a bride”, but I sure as hell am getting an awesome wardrobe.
Cheers to all the bridesmaids!!!
