Tagal na naming di nakakapag-date ni Papa N kasi I try to get home as early as possible for Father Thunder and Atekupungsingsing. Anyway, nagyaya si Papa N sa isang bagong ramen place in Rockwell. (Si Papa N talaga, excited uminom ng mainit na sabaw…;) Kasama namin si Mitz (friend/blockmate namin nina D at S) from law school. She dropped by sa office ko kaya napilitan siyang maki-3rd wheel. Hehe.
Pagdating namin sa IKKORYU FUKUOKA RAMEN, tama si Papa N, pila-balde!
Pang-11 kami sa waiting list with the warning, “Sir, we will only be calling your name thrice. If wala po kayo, we’ll move on to the next.” Fortunately, madami sigurong pumetiks at nag-lamierda kaya na-skip sila sa listahan. Plus the fact that mabilis talaga ang turnover ng customers kaya di natagalan ang pag-upo namin.
Papa N and I ordered the TONKATSU RAMEN WITH BLACK GARLIC OIL.
Sa pag-iinspeksyon ng menu, napansin naming may SUGGESTED 5-STEP WAY OF EATING TONKATSU RAMEN…
Bilang masunuring bata, kinareer ko.
Step 1: Once ramen is served, inhale rich aroma of tonkatu soup wafting out from the bowl. It must be most appetizing moment!
Step 2: Gently scoop up soup with spoon and take a first sip. Pause and take a moment to enjoy truly indulgent taste of tonkatsu soup.
Step 3: Let’s start tasting noodle. Fully dip the noodles into tonkatsu soup, and slurp it up! Noise of slurping “zu zu zu…” sounds are considered courteous in Japanese custom.
Step 4: For more a authentic CHIKUHO local way of eating, lightly powder grained sesame seeds and/or add a little of red ginger pickles into soup. This finely spices up a bowl to make the experience even more exquisite.
Rice please!
Step 5: After finishing the noodles, put rice into soup to enjoy the last pleasurable drops of the soup!
Carbo-loading to the highest performance levelzzz ito! Last note…
To enjoy freshly cooked ramen, spend between 15-20 minutes to finish your ramen bowl.
May pagmamadali?! Sa bagay, mapipilitan ka rin talaga magmadali kasi exposed na exposed ka sa mga taong nakapila at nakatanghod sa bawat “zu zu zu” mo. Pero over-all, it was a nice experience at na-enjoy namin ang food. Not to mention, very reasonable ang prices nila. The ramen is priced at around P300 – P400. Di na masama considering na bundat na bundat naman kami after.
