Lechon has been an all-time favorite Filipino delicacy in gatherings, parties, etc. When there’s a celebration, hinahanap ko lechon! Ang suwerte ko lang kasi one of my best friends, Julie, is the daughter of the owner of Ulcing’s Lechon.
I remember when Julie and I were still neighbors, I go to their house tapos pag-uwi ko may dala na akong pang lechon paksiw! Actually, favorite ko ang lechon paksiw kaya binest friend ko si Julie. Bwahahaha, joke lang Jul!
Ulcing’s reputation grew over the years. In 2005, Lucy Torres endorsed Ulcing’s in her column in Philippine Star. Ulcing’s Lechon was also featured in Yahoo Philippines, and in blogs, magazines and newspapers.
Mga celebrities ang suki ng Ulcing’s! One time, nakita ko sa labas ng house nila Julie si Bearwin Meily. Nahiya lang ako magpa-photo, sayang! Lucy Torres was also a constant visitor. Sa sobrang dalas ni Lucy sa house nila Julie, naging ninang pa ni Julie si Lucy sa wedding nila. And at that time, hindi na ako nahiyang magpa-photo.
Tita Tess started Ulcing’s when her mother, Ulcing, visited her house in Manila. Lola Ulcing was sick at that time and para sumaya si Lola, Tita Tess built a makeshift lechonan at the back of her house. Lola Ulcing kasi had a lechon business in Talisay, Cebu. Tita Tess and Lola Ulcing then sold lechon to their friends in Manila, and then tuloy-tuloy na. Lola Ulcing has passed away, but to this day, her legacy remains.
You’ll definitely love Ulcing’s Lechon. Super sarap niya, promise!!! Make sure to get the rib part, although masarap lahat ng parts 🙂
