Everyone should have their friendly neighborhood bar. Where the vibe is chill and they serve ice cold cheap beer. Where you can just walk on over at any time you just need that drink. Where you can go and the waitresses smile at you and it feels like you’re part of the family. And maybe at some point, where you just sit down and they just know what you would order.
Where I live now there are tons of places to choose from. But my heart got set on H&J. Makati residents would probably know it better from it’s former name Heckle and Jeckle – and it wasn’t named after the classic thriller literary piece, but after those two irritating magpies in that cartoon…
Now H&J is conveniently located a good 5 min walk from my apartment…
You got cheap beer, friendly waitresses, a few pool tables, a poker room upstairs and food that’s good enough for picapica.
It is a sports bar so there are a lot of monitors around the place to cater to all kinds of sports afficionados. I usually don’t go there when there’s a scheduled big game of sorts… first because I am not sporty at all, and second, because the boys get a little to intense and rowdy.
For some good old-fashioned drinking without having to worry about who will see you or who you will see and what ypu have to wear…go check out H&J.
