How to Belong When You Don’t Belong

The E! Bloggers Ball is a gathering hosted by E! Philippines for social media content creators and personalities. This year’s theme was “High Shine”.

In line with our mission to be continuously innovative and resourceful especially when it comes to fashion (pa-deep English lang yan na “wala kaming pambili ng gown”), we thought of designing our own version of “high shine” formal wear.

Ang problem, ito ang lumabas sa google.

 

Pero ito ang suot nila…

 

At ito ang suot namin.

 

At first we were afraid. We were petrified. Kept thinking no one wants us there to be on their side. But then we spent so many seconds thinking what else could go wrong and we grew strong. And we learned to feel belong! (napakanta ba kayo? 😂)

After much thought and discussion inside the washroom, we realized that: Self-confidence is the first step to great undertakings. Confidence is all we need.

Confidence is wearing hardware material in a sea of expensive chiffon and Swarovski crystals… 

Or holding your chin UP in your glammed UPholstery in a room full of Rosenthal Tee… 

Or simply wearing what you see in a cover of a…. folder.

 

Confidence is having everyone stop and stare as you enter a room…and convincing them na INVITED KA TALAGA!

Confidence is wearing your bacon shorts to Shangri la Fort.

 

Confidence is fearlessly standing tall with the crowd and asking if meron bang UPUAN. (ngawit na ang lola 😂)

 

Confidence is dancing dauntlessly because the video output is free.

 

Confidence is boldly saying no to alcohol because all you need is water mga twenty (dahil uhawin na ang mga dirty thirty)

 

As they say, confidence isn’t walking into a room thinking you’re better than everyone, it’s walking in and not having to compare yourself to anyone at all.
