S: Always love love my Bombay-tonics especially on a warm humid Makati night. Too bad the service sucked a bit because apparently me and my girls were not “foreign-looking” enough for the service crew. And, true to my nature, i gave the manager a piece of my mind — calmly though, at medyo pinigilan ako ni D & P. At least we had a super sweet labrador to fawn over. D: S was there already when P & I arrived. We were seated next to a lolo and his adorable dog. Then, we noticed that the lolo was talking to an imaginary friend. Si P tumingin na sakin with her Caviteña lips pointing towards lolo. At dahil di nya matiis, P asked the waiter if anong meron kay lolo. The waiter also said that his name is “Don _____” When we heard the “DON”…. D&P: TITO!!!! The waiters were nakakagigil but the food was okay, except for the mojito. Ang weird niya… parang lagundi leaves ang nilagay, nakakatinga! In short, DAPAT MATINGA AKO! Inaaaay! Not to mention na pang-ilustrado pala ang service. Imbey!

S: Speakeasies became popular during the 1930s in the US during the time of the prohibition. A speakeasy is supposed to be a place where you can throw back, booze up and not worry about whatever anyone would say and about being arrested for drinking or some other unlawful behavior. Prohibition bar is attempting to revive the feel. It’s secluded, and only those who (have something to hide?) have an invitation can enter. Luckily, we managed to get invited, what with 3 times the charm. hehehe!
D: I texted S Thursday night and asked where ang lakad namin.
S: Let’s do Prohibition.
D: Huh? Ano yun? Ayoko makulong.
S: It’s a place. Backroom ng Dillingers sa Greenbelt.
D: Parang Jake Jillingers lang?
Soshal!!! The servers were so bibo!!! Mejo creepy buuuut soshal!!! We noticed also na makikita palang nila naghuhugot ng yosi ang guest, lalapit na sila para sindihan ang yosi! And to think ang dilim ng place.
Rene: Is it okay if you stay at the smoking section?
D: It’s okay, we’re Smokin’ [hot] naman!
P: Takte D, san galing yun?!?!?!?
Hi Bea! Totally agree about Cerveseria… I always forget what it’s called but i love the meatless pizza there with the arugula and mushrooms and truffle sauce. Prohibition has pretty good tapas too actually.
And for the record HINDI LANG SHWEPPES TONIC WATER ang ininom ko no!??!! Kelangan may alak syempre. Maaga pa noon eh, so pretend muna na umiinom talaga ako ng tubig…
Pagpumupunta ka sa Bahay ni Kuyakoy! 🙂 Former Embassy nga! 🙂
Hoy, saan ko nadadaanan yun???
Hahaha!
– Mariel
Bea, I can’t believe that Tapella did not give you a good service! Kami maiintindihan pa namin because we are not mestiza like you! hahaha! 🙂
Interesting! We also had a GNO last Friday. We were at Cerveseria and Bizu.
I highly recommend Cerveseria coz the food is excellent (and the wine too)
We’ll also try Prohibition soon 🙂
I’ve never been happy with the service of Tapella – altho the food is good! 🙂
