Leading Brand vs. Shield

Sa totoo lang, our family has been using the Leading Brand since…since…nagka-malay ata ako. But I am very well aware that there are other brands in the market, including Shield bath soap. That’s why I was more than willing to try a different brand just to see the difference. And there was no better time to try out these two soap brands than when I was spending a week at the beach. So I used the Leading Brand and Shield on alternate days for a period of 6 days while going about my regular beach activities.

 

After spending hours under the sun going around the beach, mas kinikilingan ko pa din ang Leading Brand. I still felt cleaner and smelled relatively better than when I used Shield. Although Shield had a stronger fragrance when I used it in the shower, that scent didn’t really stay on very long after I was exposed to the sun. Let’s just say I was more confident on the day that I used the Leading Brand, than when I used Shield, and I guess that means that the Leading Brand’s anti-bacterial ingredient is more effective than Shield’s. 

I did notice though that my skin was a bit drier after using the Leading Brand, than when I used Shield. I got pretty baked after falling asleep on the beach and that did dry up my skin. After using the Leading Brand, parang medyo namuti yun balat ko dahil sa dryness. I didn’t experience that with Shield. 

I couldn’t really gauge which soap lasted longer after a few days, so I figured I’ll test them my own way. I put a whole bar of the Leading Brand and Shield separately in two dippers filled with water. I let them soak for 5 hours to see which one disintegrates faster. When I dumped the water, both had shrunk about the same amount. 

The verdict? 

In terms of dependability and reliability in making sure I don’t get stinky after hours under the sun, i.e. germ protection, I’ll go with the Leading Brand. 

But if we’re talking about skin protection, feel and value for money, I’ll definitely give that to Shield. 

  Let’s just say na kung dati ay nakikinig lang ako sa “binubulong ng konsensya ko,” ngayon, napapaisip na ‘ko. 😛
