I truly believe that there are still a lot of undiscovered or relatively unknown tourist spots in the Philippines. It’s a crying shame how the government can’t seem to fully capitalize on just how absolutely breathtaking and appealing the different sights are around the islands, particularly the beaches.
Everyone should know about Punta Bulata. The first time I went there was a couple of years ago in celebration of my birthday week – which I celebrated with my buddy, AZ. This year, I just fell in love with it more. Beautiful sunsets, white beach, calm waters, and superb resort amenities are just some of the things that you can look forward to. On my first visit, I stayed at the quaint hotel building — where all the rooms have a view of the beach and the hotel pool. Second time around, we got the hillside casita, which had 2 bedrooms, each with a bathroom. It also has a kitchen, a dining area, a veranda that looks out to the sea, and even a laundry area at the back. The casita is at the farthest end of the resort, and perfect for a group of friends or an entire family.

The food? Well, if you have friends from Bacolod, you know how Ilonggos love their food. Yes, the food is sumptuous, with a feel of home-cooked meals.

There are also water activities offered like wind-surfing, boat ride, snorkeling and scuba-diving. They have a “party-boat” that can take you out for an hour or so on the open waters heading to Sipalay, or to Danjugan Island which is a nature preserve that has clear waters, mangroves and forest trails to enjoy. You can also just lay on the boat to take in the sun while cruising around. While everyone was trying to muddle their way through LaBoracay during Labor Day weekend, we were enjoying the wide open sea, the peaceful surroundings and the company of people whom we care about.

Don’t get me wrong though, Punta Bulata can also party pretty hard. In fact, this coming May 16-17, the resort is throwing a comeback music festival called the Sugar Coast Beach Bash, which will feature several DJs and bands starting 4.30 pm.

Punta Bulata is about 3 hours drive from Bacolod City. The resort can have you picked up from the Silay Airport and brought straight to Cauayan. There is of course the option of spending some time in Bacolod City first to enjoy the famed cuisine that only this City has to offer.
