Sharing this wonderful project by my good friend, Michelle Cortes 🙂
Back in 2013, I decided to do something different for the New Year. Instead of running after resolutions, I focused on counting blessings instead. I wrote down each blessing (something as small as getting a free carwash or a random smile from a cute stranger, to something big like traveling to another country or a prayer answered) on a piece of paper, assigned a “value” to it (P20 minimum, if there’s a kilig factor, I’d put in a max of P500 hehehe), stapled it shut, and put it in my Awesome Good Can.
The plan is to open up each piece of paper at the end of the year and look back at how awesomely blessed and “valuable” my life is. I will then take the money I’ve “saved” up and use it to bless someone else.
Unfortunately, I got too lazy to continue it and lasted until February only. I vowed that it will be different in 2014…only to be disappointed by myself yet again. Here I am, belatedly opening my Awesome Good Can and looking back at my blessings until February 18, 2014. I feel my heart swell with gratitude and love seeing how blessed I was…and it was only the 49th day of the year! This 2015, I promised myself and God that I’ll push through until the end.
Why am I sharing this with you? Because I’m hoping that you’d do the same. Count your blessings. Realize that even if things don’t go your way, you are still very much loved and awesomely blessed. Realize that God has the most awesome plan for your life. Be amazed at how God uses even the smallest things to show His love for you. In return, go bless someone else. Go on, try it! It’s only January 6 so there’s plenty of time left!
